Car fire in Siburan leaves female driver injured

KUCHING (Oct 16): A 37-year-old woman sustained minor injuries after the car she was driving suddenly caught fire along Mile 9, Siburan, early today.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), they received a distress call at 12.31am, and despatched seven firefighters from the Siburan fire station to the scene.

“The operations commander reported that the fire involved a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), which was completely destroyed.

“The injured driver was transported by the Emergency Medical Response Services (EMRS) team for treatment,” it said in a statement.

Bomba said firefighters successfully extinguished the fire using a hose reel and water from the fire engine.

After ensuring that the situation was safe and under control, the firefighters returned to the station.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
